Components of detailingExterior detailing involves cleaning & bringing a shine to the car's paint, chrome trim, windows, wheels & tires. Different detailers use different products to do this, including detergents, detail clay, waxes, polishes & a variety of applicators & special cloths.
The 3 main components of exterior car detailing are cleaning, polishing & protecting.
> Cleaning refers to removing all foreign surface particles from exterior surfaces through the use of washing & claying. A clay bar helps to clean contamination/dirt from within the clearcoat that can't be removed through weekly washing. Clearcoat contamination can come from industrial fallout, air particles, dirt particles, tar & animal droppings.
> Correcting refers to using mechanical polishes by hand or with a machine & specific polishing pads that remove a fine layer of clearcoat from a vehicle to remove fine scratches & swirls from a paint surface produced from improper washing or drying technique.
> Protecting involves the application of a protective material (in liquid or paste form) that prevents foreign matter from adhering to the surface of the vehicle, including water, bugs splatter, tar & dirt. Waxes & sealants provide this barrier against the elements.
Interior detailing involves cleaning the passenger compartment of the car. Vacuuming is standard & steam cleaning, liquid cleaners & brushes may be used to remove stains on upholstery. Some nonporous surfaces may also be polished.
Engine detailing: Some detailers may offer engine detailing, in which steam, high pressure water, degreasers & all-purpose cleaners are used to clean under the hood of the car.
Detailing doesn't include body work, painting, mechanical or upholstery repair.
Auto Detailing: Making A used Car Look Like NewAuto detailing is important to car grooming & very significant especially if the car owner's intending to divest or sell it. The used car definitely won't be attractive to potential buyers, no matter what model it is, if the overall physical & exterior appearance isn't very appealing.
Prior to any auto detailing activity, there's a need to fully evaluate the car. When taking the usual & effective procedures to auto detailing, you surely would be asked to take 3 auto detailing primers.
1st & foremost would be the paint evaluation. The exterior of the used car is the first recognizable & seen part of the vehicle. Impressions are made & unmade just by merely looking at & evaluating the car's exterior. Thus, for auto detailing, the initial aim is always to groom the car through good spray painting.
2nd auto detailing procedure would be wheel & tire evaluation. Wheels of old cars usually suffer from black stains caused by brake dust & tar accumulation. If the wheels don't get usual & regular washing & necessary waxing, chances are great you need to spend more effort to groom the car parts.
3rd consideration would be the car interior. After you've taken care of the exterior concerns, auto detailing would lastly require you to take care of the insides. Remember the car's interior generally indicates how the car's been used & taken care of. That's why as much as possible Vancouver Toyota auto detailing always set it as a goal to make the interior look very superior & in good shape, just like the exterior.
Here are additional simple tips that would surely help make auto detailing a worthwhile & more effective practice.1. During the auto detailing process, make sure the car's in a cool garage or roofed space. This is because the majority of usual & effective auto detailing products like paint & wax don't work well when applied to hot surfaces. DO NOT wash the car's exterior in the sun.
2. When washing the car, clean from the top first down to the bottom. The law of gravity would be self explanatory.
3. Don't wash or auto detail a car that's just been from the road. When using cold water when washing, remember cold water can very much damage the car's hot parts, like the exhaust components, the brake rotors & the engine itself. Before auto detailing, let the hot car cool for about 20 minutes to half an hour.
4. Use detailing towel, brush or spray to wipe away excess wax on the car's exterior. It's inevitable wax will eventually form residue around the trim. Now you know how to remedy the situation.
As you carry on an auto detailing activity to make your car look new again, remember through patience & determination, you can really make your car look elegant & extravagant once again.
